Keep your clock in sync with BYU’s time servers

Time servers are a wonderful way to keep the clocks on your electronics (phones, clocks, computers) always exactly in sync with the correct time. For Mac OS, that means that you can leave setting the clock to the computer instead of doing it manually. It also means that you do not have to worry about making changes for daylight savings!

There are many public time servers available. Apple provides one at ‘time.apple.com’. BYU also has a time server that you can use. The following tutorial shows you how to set this up.

Begin by opening System Preferences and navigating to the Date & Time pane. Under the Date & Time tab, enter ‘tick.byu.edu’ or ‘tock.byu.edu’ in the “Set Date & Time automatically field. That’s it.
