So i was wondering how i could figure out a couple of things.
First i was wondering what loops and instruments logic express includes, and second, whether its worth getting it or just getting a jam pack for garage band in order to get more instruments i need.
I have been searching the web, but have not really been able to find this information.
Logic Express (LE) doesn't really add a lot of instruments or loops on top of GarageBand (GB), to be honest. Nor does it add many loops. What changes between GB and LE is the quality of everything you get.
For example, with GarageBand you get a few different drum machines that pump out decent beats. None of them are super high quality, nor are they recognized. LE, on the other hand, has classic 808 and 909 sounds in it, as well as sampled drums from some of the best manufacturers (like Ludwig).
Also, the effects you get with LE completely blow GB out of the water. First, you have a full Visual/Parametric EQ, a full compressor and four kinds of reverb (and if that doesn't get you excited...well, go read "Audio Post Production" by Casey Kim and then it will). Also, it has a Guitar Amp simulator that faithfully recreates vintage and modern guitar sounds.
If you're at all serious about audio, you'll want Logic. Jam Packs are great, but they will never add the amount of control over the sound that you really want if you want to sound like a pro. GarageBand is good for pumping out band demos, and doing a minimal amount of scoring. But it's not pro by any means...
